How do I transfer music from my iPod to a new Mac?

Hi

My Mac was stolen, but at least I have all my music on my iPod.

How do I safely transfer my music from my old iPod to my new Mac??

Don't want iTunes to erase it ... it's the only copy I have.

Thanks

I prefer Ollie's iPod Extractor:

Download Ollie's iPod Extractor for Mac - Copy songs from iPod to Mac. (was Broken Helix) MacUpdate Mac Applications Software Downloads.

Thanks to you both.

I have a nano as well which I am using for testing. When I plug it in, iTunes launches and says iPod synching complete, even though I have set the preferences to 'disable automatic synching'.

How do I stop iTunes from launching and grabbing the iPod?

These programs don't seem to 'see and connect' to the iPod

ok I just found the instructions for putting the iPod into "Disk Mode" which allows these programs to recognize the iPod. should have read the instructions first I guess....
