From another site: Adobe confirms Flash for iPhone; Apple (asks) when?
Quote:
One of the biggest gripes about the iPhone is its lack of Flash support (and believe us, that is a huge deal). Now, after waiting so friggin’ long, Adobe has officially confirmed that Flash is pretty much ready to go. This can open up the floodgates to new applications and developers who were hoping to write some Flash-based apps. Safari will no longer display pages with that stupid little Lego block icon telling us, “Sorry, no Flash. U r teh suck!” Still, Apple decides when and where on all things, well, Apple. Jens Brynildsen, a Flash expert and reputable Flash source says:
“Upon a direct question from the audience, Paul Betlem for the first time publicly confirmed that Adobe is actively developing a Flash Player for Apple’s popular phone. He said (not direct quote) ‘My team is working on Flash on the iPhone, but it’s a closed platform.’ He noted that Apple makes all the decisions, so in other words, the ball is in Apple’s yard at this time. If Apple says yes, Adobe will have the player available in a very short time.”
All you iPhone users can now rejoice since it’s not just a rumor anymore - it’s official and waiting. *In Darth Vader voice* Your training is complete.

I just hope that they do it right... it could easily bog down the phone to a halt if it's not implemented properly. Which is probably the reason it wasn't released yet. So, when it does come out, I'm sure Apple will have tested it thoroughly.
While I suppose Flash has its uses in some ways, the PRIMARY use of flash on the web is ADVERTISING. Most of us have adblockers of some kind that keep that dancing, beeping, flashing, distracting annoyance that are "flash ads" to a minimum, but no such protection will exist on the iPhone, and you forget how INCREDIBLY ANNOYING they are until you visit a few sites without your "protection" on.
Having flash on the iPhone will REDUCE the usefulness of web browsing, and slow it down SIGNIFICANTLY. If there's any upside at all, it's too small to outweigh the downside.

of all the flash I've developed over the years, maybe 1% was those flash ads.
That's like saying jpg and gifs primary use is for ads on websites.
Honestly we can belabor how many badly developed flash files there are on the web, we all know there are many.
Javascript has been abused just as much into annoying functions yet 95% still keep it enabled. For good reason.
I hope it comes to the iphone, hopefully it's efficient.
