Upgrading to 2.1

I have an old 4gb iPhone and I want to upgrade to 2.1 because 2.0.1 has been absolutely horrible. I used pwnage tools previously and I'm not sure if I should be following the same steps are before to upgrade to 2.1.

All the guides I found on modmyi pertain to 3G phones, has anyone else upgrades from 2.0 to 2.1 with an older phone? If so what guide did you use or what steps should I follow?

I believe I used this guide to upgrade to 2.0. Would 2.1 be the same but just with a different ipsw file?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I suggest you go to iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials ,great website that a member told me about a few days ago. Check out the tutorials, they're very helpful. All you need to know is on that website for unlocking and so on.
