After getting my first Mac, I imported all my MP3 into iTunes (never used iTunes on a Window machine before). Out of the 2600 songs 800 or so did not catagorize properly. Is there a way, either in iTunes or another App, that will do this for me? I would hate to go through them manually and do it, yikes!
Thanks,
J

There are a variety of programs that will "tag" mp3 and mp3 files, but iTunes can do batch tagging as well, so I'm not sure that any third-party tagging program is going to make it any easier for you than iTunes would.

Great, thanks chas_m. I was browsing iTunes briefly this morning before heading to the office and couldnt find the option for running a batch and tagging them. Where abouts is it? I could have easily overlooked it.
Cheers,
J

1. Select songs you wish to batch-tag. You can do this by shift-selecting a bunch that are in order, or command-selecting ones that aren't in order.
2. Press command I or select "get info."
3. If there is any information "in common," (like all from the same album) that will appear "filled out" already, but otherwise you can just input the information in the appropriate fields. Leave the fields that require individual entries (like name of track) blank.
There's a program that does exactly what you're looking for.. it's completely automatic.. but, it's $20. But, I assume $20 is worth it when it comes to tagging 800 songs!
I've used demo modes of the software and it works very well. I haven't tried it in some time however, you'll probably want to download the demo and make sure that it will do what you're asking of it.
Don't shell out one dollar for any program for meta tagging your iTunes Media! If iTunes can't edit the way you want it to, then visit Doug's Scripts and find the script you need.

A second vote for Doug's Scripts.......
