just got my new ipod touch 2g...
now youtube videos when played using the built in speaker are fine and loud enough. but movies i have taken from DVD using handbrake and TV shows i converted from xvid with visualhub are too quiet.. i can hardly hear them, and would be useless for showing friends unless we were in a totally silent area.. even with the headphones ive got it on nearly max volume.
is there anyway i can make the videos louder when i import them?
thanks |

I thought the new ones with the volume control on side and built in speakers are the iPod Touch 3rd Generation. Not second (I have a second).
Also if you seen the keynotes Jobs mentioned the built in speakers were only for 'casual' listening he even emphasized this in his voice I guess as a means of expressing they're far from being perfect for all uses.
By the way if only the rips are too quite (rips you're doing yourself), then you are perhaps not correctly encoding/converting the video accurately. Its possible that you're only encoding the center channel out of a 5.1 surround AC3 file, and if so you need to downsample the 5.1 channels into 2 channels to get ALL of the audio converted.
That's one possibility, also do "Get Info" on your video imports into itunes and see what their decibal levels are set to, since you can customize a song or video or such to have a higher internal volume setting than others. (volume adjustment in this manner can go from -100% to +100%)
