Thumbs up Rogers Customer Service - Awesome, for the first time ever

I called to see about changing my plan a bit, and getting a bit more value.

The plan I ended up with is:

$10 base plan (a grandfathered plan from my 2002 account activation)
$11 value pack
$30 6GB Data Plan
$6.95 SAF
$0.50 911
$10 Discount, recurring
Total of: $48.45 pre-tax, and $54 with tax.

I'm left with a glowing image of Rogers, and especially the rep that helped me out.

How long did you re-sign for?

Which phone did you get, and for how much?

Didn't resign for anything, and I'm sticking with my 1st gen iPhone. The data plan has a 36 month contract, however.

If this had unlimited incoming or Rogers-Rogers calling it would be the ultimate plan for me.

That's a really good deal. I was also pleased they let me keep my grandfathered voice plan. As much as I hate Rogers as a company, I have to say the rep I spoke to when I ordered my iPhone was very friendly and helpful.

I see it like any other company; you have to get the right person. The guy I spoke with was on the same page as I, and spent quite some time with me looking over my plan for ways to give me discounts.

Kudos.

Nice thing about Rogers is that they let you change plans and features without necessarily re-signing. Had you taken a new phone, it would have been different. But you can always change your mind, keep your plan, and get something new.

(We may revisit this thread in three years and you might still be a customer of Rogers, having foregone every 24 month, 12 month or now 3 month hardware upgrade to get new customer pricing on phones...)

Haha yeah Rogers is really hit or miss with their CSR's. I've been having some problems every now and again with my 3G iPhone, and last week they were no help. Today I called, and explained I've restored and blah blah blah, did everything, and they are sending me another one. For once I am pleased with Rogers. Some of the CSR's you really want to slap em' though because they are so ignorant sometimes.

Best advice for calling Rogers: Be persistent, and be polite.
