Canadians aren’t the only ones getting the short end of the stick, just look at Denmark, there is a big revolution on the internet happening there as well regarding their iPhone plans. Danish carrier Telia just relased there iPhone plans and I must say they are terrible, even worse than ours, much worse actually.

Here’s what they are getting:

Price - 599 DKK or about $128 Canadian
Minutes - 300
Data - 300mb

That is the only plan available. There are no other options. If you go over those it’s about 26 cents per MB and 21 cents per minute. You pay the $128 per month for the first 6 months and then it goes down to $85. It can’t tell if there is a contract involved or not.

The price of the iPhone in Denmark is 1399 DKK for the 8gb model and 1999 DKK for the 16gb model. That works out $299 and $427 in Canadian dollars.

Ya, comparing to Europe is really not valid at all... they have vastly different economies, currencies, pricing, and taxes. For example, all Apple products in most of Europe sell at nearly twice the North American pricing. The US is a much more similar comparison for Canada, thus the anger over Rogers' pricing. Admittedly it is slightly more expensive to operate a wireless carrier in Canada... but their rates are not even close. I think if they had followed the American model and added a bit of passing for being "Canadian", people probably would have just swallowed it... but no, they went much, much further than that.

Not to mention that they have actual jobs in Denmark, where people make some decent money to live on - unlike Canada. Only in Canada do they have legislation that prevents farm workers from organizing.

Denmark will have additional benefits, like they have real GSM, and always have had - while we have had to suffer with utter garbage like Digital PCS, CDMA, and who knows what other crackerjack protocols of the month...

<sigh> This forum is starting to remind me why I hate the internet. Nothing but a bunch of complainers with no real understanding of the subject they're complaining about.

Time to take this site off my regular reading list until people get a grip over this iPhone bullsh**.
