I have a nano I picked up a few weeks ago. I'm really impressed by the screen. I figured video on it would be a gimmic, but it's surprisingly watchable. I put a few of my DVD's on there by converting them with handbrake, (very easy). But I don't see any TV on the Canadian Itunes store. Is there an easy way to get some content, other than by converting more of my own DVD's and the occasional podcast video??
I had a related question about the apple TV. As I understand it, it lets you watch content from your hard drive (wirelessly) on a TV it is connected to. So can you use it to watch TV recorded from the internet, using the hard drive as a PVR? what is the best source for this content, maybe the same answer as the above question?
Wow 40 reads and no responses.
Is this because it's such an elementary question and nobody wants to waste time on it, or because nobody else knows where to get TV content either? (which seems unlikely in this forum). If there a better place to post this or look please let me know.
If you want video content for your ipod but you dont want to have the hassle of converting all those files, you can buy videos from itunes, however the Canadian iTunes store is limited so instead I'll tell how to get a account for the American iTunes.
First off, you must have an american iTunes card, you can easily find these on ebay. Once you have an iTunes card and/or voucher code head over to the American store and redeem your code, register using an american address.
Once your done, use the prepaid amount to purchase tv shows, movies and more.
In terms of the PVR question - yes you can record cable content to your hard drive using usb tv tuner solutions. Check out Elgato and you'll find the tools you need to turn your computer into a PVR.
Alternatively, you can use peer-to-peer solutions to download tv content (decide for yourself if you feel this is a problem) but most p2p downloads are in avi format and will need to be converted to work with the iPod. Going the p2p route means two long processes to get to your content - downloading and converting.
Good luck.
