Hey guys, well, I'm gonna do it. Next week I'm heading down to Minniapolis and getting the dang phone. But I just need a few answers...
1) If anyone has got a iPhone in Minniapolis, where did you get it from? And where would be the best place to go without getting the least amount of hassle, AT&T or Apple?
2)What was the last week that 1.1.1 was made? And where exactly is it on the box that I can check this?
3) What is a good plan (that has at least 250min and quite a lot of texting) for a student. Around 20 dollars would be awesome.
The last week that 1.1.1 units were made was the 43rd, from what I can tell.
The way to tell this is by looking at the serial number, on the back of the box. The 4th and 5th digits indicate the week number. i.e. - 7T727XYZWH8 would indicate that it was manufactured on the 27th week of 2007.
You may want to try an AT&T store, as I have heard they do not go through stock as quickly, and may have older units.
i just got the phone today in Seattle, i got a 1.1.2 (week 46).
from what i went through today, definatley go to an AT&T store. at the apple store i was so frustrated, they wouldn't accept cash and even with a canadian credit card, they wouldn't shut up about scamming. at AT&T i was able to purchase it in about 5 minutes. no questions asked, payed with cash.

Uhh, they stopped accepting cash for a while now.
They have no gripes taking anyone's credit card, they just ask for ID.

Did they make you sign up for a service plan? How was customs on the way back?
I know Apple has stoped accepting cash for a while, i was just telling him how thats not the case for AT&T. They did not ask me to sign up for any plan, and i didnt claim it over the border.
