video playback on iphone?

Hi all,

has anyone been able to play any videos on their iphone besides youtube?

I downloaded an ep of dl.tv in ipod/psp format (h.264), but when I imported it into itunes, and reassigned it as a 'music video' to get it to show up on the iphone, it just gets stuck on the first frame, with the audio playing back normally.

I tried videora and en-encoded, and even the built in converter in itunes 'convert to iphone', and the result was the same, frozen video.

The latest file I tried ended with '.mp4'.

am I missing a step? I'm on fw 1.1.1.

thx, p.

You could try handbrake.

wierd, I'm trying XIlisoft now, and its not working for me either.

I'm now trying an different source file to be safe, WMV 720p trailer -> iphone 320x240.

I then import the file in itunes, reassihn as 'music video' ( or it doesn't seem to go on next sync), and then hit 'ipod', main index, 'music videos', and I tap, it shows the first frame like a album cover, and plays the audio back in the background. Is there a different way to transfer and/or playback?

thx, p.

I wonder if the video codec is messing up the conversion and than causing it not to play right on your iphone.

d'ohh, user error

figured it out.

I was sync'ing up all wrong, forcing my videos to appear as 'music videos', and didn't even notice the 'Movies' sync checkboxes, scrolled offscreen within Sync tabs.

thanks all, once I figured I was the only one with this prob, made me recheck my transfer steps.
