Rogers Voicemail Problem

Hi, I have recently bought an iPhone and I have a Rogers sim card. It is version 1.0.2 and I am having some weird troubles with my phone. Originally I had a problem that my voicemail icon would not go away and every time I listened to my voicemail, I would get 3 text messages from the number '123' that didnt say anything. I thought it was something with my sim card (it was really old...it was from Rogers AT&T from way back) so I bought a new sim card and tried it again. With my new sim card, my phone now never shows the icon at all telling me that I have a voicemail and I still get the 3 text messages from '123' with no content every time I call my voicemail. Has anyone had the same problem? It is really annoying and I hope there is a way to fix it. Hope someone can help me out!

Recently I started noticing some odd behaviour with my voicemail on my iPhone as well as improperly dated SMS messages. I found a post on Apple's b-base that suggested that this might have something to do with the automatic clock setting on the phone. The post recommended that the time zone be reset to a city that is GMT +0 (and offered Rabat, Morocco as one example). Next, I indicated in Settings that I would set the clock manually.

And whaddaya know...ever since then, my voicemail indicator has worked like a charm.

Another thing worth trying is to call Rogers and have them send a reset to the phone (you have to turn it off before they do this). That also has had some success apparently.

what do you mean by calling rogers to reset my phone? What exactly do they do when they reset my phone?

oh...maybe I'll try that tomorrow. Also to add to my problems, usually when someone leaves a voicemail, rogers sends you a text message telling you have 1 new voice message but instead for me it tells me that the person who left me the voice message sent me a text message telling me that i have one new voicemail (1 New 0 Urgent). I'm not sure why it does this. Argh. I just found out my brothers unlocked n95 does this as well so I still have suspicion that it has something to do with my sim card or my wireless service itself. Also my mom's locked rogers samsung d807 does this as well. All three of our sim cards and networks were started together as a family plan approximately 5 years ago (not very sure, but it was back when it was still Rogers AT&T lol). Maybe its time for me to get a new plan?
