iPod mini not coming until July.

This is a serious let down, not specifically for me, but my brother has been saving all his money to buy one in april when they came out, and he really doesn't want to wait until July.

so a quick question
Can I shop at the online US Apple store with a Canadian credit card?

OT: I was just in Vegas last week. Stopped into the apple store hoping to pick up a mini. They were all sold out!! I got as close as the four on display...

Cam, you must have a US delivery address but can use any credit card.

You are going to have a hard time finding one even in the US. Your best bet would probably be to deal with a reseller other than the AppleStore; Best Buy, whomever will ship to Canada.

But, finding one at all won't be easy. Hitachi reports that Apple is taking the entire production of 1" drives for the iPod mini (that's the cause of the shortages), and that even then, they cannot make enough 4GB drives to keep up with current demand in just the US.

Neither Apple nor Hitachi expected this demand. Hitachi has added another production facility but it will be a few months before it's ramped up.

Nice one. I was just going to post about this. A good friend of mine works for Apple's PR firm and she mentioned this same thing to me last night - that production would be held, and the WORLDWIDE launch would not take place for some time (summer @ earliest).

McFadden99 - sad to hear that. I'm glad that I grabbed mine (my girl's) when I did now... whoa. I find using it more than my 20G. It's so damn cute....
