Also, I don't need the actual dock right? This just plugs straight from my Ipod dock port on the bottom to the firewire port on my ibook.

Look at the cable 3 items below the PC cable - that's the one you want, and no you don't need a dock.

rhino - To be picky (and not be doing something illegal down here), it is actually volunteering. I didn't get a work visa so I can't actually "work" and get paid. Uncle Sam doesn't like it if you don't have a work visa and try to.
Though if I were to get paid, at times it would feel wrong to be paid for having so much fun.
It's fun down here, but I can't wait to get back.
