I think it's actually that the demand for the 8GB models is really not huge, so they're introducing a new colour to try and spur them on. I've read numerous places that all state iPods are flying off the shelf... EXCEPT for the 8GB Nano.

Personally, not a big fan of the colour RED but definately a good cause. I can verify that the 8GB Nano is not flying off the shelves like the others. I work for a major Apple disty and while our stock on the 2gb/4gb nano's is backordered, we have plenty of 8GB Nano's in stock. Probably because the the price is so close to the 30GB video.
