ok, my friend just bought an ipodmini.

when pluggd in it shows up as blahblabhblah ipod.

how do you change/rename the ipod?

Sounds to me like he bought it used? And the "blahblabhblah" part is the previous owner's name or something?

If so, when your friend hooks it up to his/her computer, iTunes will detect that the iPod was associate with a different computer. There will be an option to associate it with your friend's computer. If you select to do so, all the content on the iPod will be wiped and replaced with your friend's content. Once mounted within iTunes, your friend can click on the name in Itunes'' Source list and rename it.
