Ipod service

I have a 4th gen 20g ipod that was purchased from Futureshop in Jan 2005.
The scroll wheel no longer works and I have lost my receipt.
Am I out of luck for warranty repair?

Thanks John

Shouldn't be a problem. Just go online and request service....

If it says you are out of warranty, you may have to come up with your receipt to prove you bought it less than a year ago.

Another thing, since you bought it more than 6 months ago, Apple will want to bill you a shipping charge. I'm not sure exactly the charge but a cusomter told me it was $50.00. If you buy the Applecare warranty extension, you don't have to pay the shipping. Apple charges $89.00 for the warranty but dealers do offer it cheaper. Look around for a better deal

I've also heard that if you phone Apple directly, some of their customer service people will waive the shipping fee. You may want to try that too.

I work on the dark side because the pay is better than what I could get the Apple world. Sad but true

I suggest you call by phone, my personnal experience is that phone servicing is 10 times faster than web one (Replacement for my headphones came in 1 day from california via phone, one of my friend waited 1 week to get his from web service). Also if you got a 3rd party warranty (fe. futureshop PSP) you can phone them to see if they refund the apple service fee after 6 months (futureshop does).

I serviced my mini some weeks ago and it costed me 45$ in shipping&handling charges from apple. Futureshop requires me to get an invoice and my futureshop recipt (or warranty number, phone them for that) and fax them the stuff, they said that I should get refunded within 4 weeks.
