Noticed the 16GB refurbs already gone from Apple Canada store. Guess we will have to wait for all those returns to end up on the sales list. They should still make a good bargaining chip for buying used from the local sellers.

Hope this helps someone:

Apple will exchange third-gen iPads purchased within the past 30 days for a shiny new fourth-gen | 9to5Mac

Not if the nearest apple store is a few hours drive away...

i'd consider an iPad 3 32GB 4G for $599, $670 after tax. A lot of people on Craigslist are trying to unload them for $700, sometimes firm.

Are you backed up??? If so, why? Psyllium Fibre is not free but will do wonders!

You should see all the ads for iPad 3 16GB for over $500 for used items when the refurbs with a new case, battery, inspection and full one year warranty are at Apple for $379 plus tax. Apple Canada out right now but Apple USA has in stock and you can either run over and pick one up or have it delivered to US address and retrieve that way. I love the just like new descriptions and barely used, yeah like that can be proven !!!

Mmmm... Not really. After taxes (depending on the province) I believe the iPad is only about $60 more in in the UK than Canada, which, when compared to cost of living and salary indexes is actually more affordable.

(I've bought in both Canada and the UK.)

Hell, I have a shiny, old iPad 2! Horse-and-buggy stuff. Pathetic. No way Apple's getting a dime out of me any time soon.

Yes, mine still works great and I am happy with it, but I do think an upgrade after a handful of months might be a bit hard to swallow for lots of people who picked up a 3rd gen.
It's not a life cycle; it's a new product. The iPad 3 is still the top of the line with retinal display. The iPad Mini is really more of a shrunken iPad 2 as far as specs go—still quite nice but not the premium model. It's for the budget conscious and people with smaller hands (and purses). Also gamers.

The full size iPad also saw a major update yesterday... it is definitely a big enough update to qualify as a new generation...

Refusing delivery is by far the easiest thing to do, heck all you need to really do is not be home for the delivery guy and not make it down to the depot to pick it up fast enough and UPS/FedEx etc will return it to the sender (in this case Apple).

If Apple suggested that course of action I see no reason not too, otherwise you are on the hook for shipping it back to Apple.
