iPod not charging !

I have a iPod 4th generation that will only charge when I plug it into my Imac.
When I plug it into my Apple dock,or my i pod boom box it will play for awhile then shut off and I see a message that says 20 % battery life left.
All my chargers worked fine before!!
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

I would try a hard reset... Hold sleep/wake and the home button until it resets. If not try to restore.

It sounds old school but perhaps th contactors need to be blowed out.

Are other idevices able to charge using the dock?

Good luck

Sounds like an issue with the dock connector or battery on your ipod. Only thing to do would be to see if Apple could do anything. Usually they offer you a refurb one at a discount or 10% off a new ipod.

I had an issue with my nano and that's what they offered me over the weekend when it couldn't be fixed.

EDIT: i just realized you said it charges when plugged into the Mac also, there is most likely something wrong with the dock connector on the ipod. I would check the pins on the ipod like Ravindra Mohabeer mentioned below.

The other thing you can do, particularly if you get error messages that make no sense, is check if the little pins in the dock connector are bent. It's micro sized so you'll need either superior eyes (which I don't have) or a magnifying glass (which I do have). If your item is out of warranty and you have a tiny eye glass type screw driver you can lightly press down on the offending bent pin (or google search broken dock connector fix or some such thing). It worked for me when the same thing happened to my wife's previous out-of-warranty iPhone.

Oh, my bad. I just re-read your post. It will charge but only on the computer.

My advice still goes, though, because it might be the one pin bent thing - surprising how much havoc that can wreck.
