Telus iphone unlocking

Wondering if anyone here has gone through the process with them?

I was given an iphone 4s locked to Telus. Which is evil since it was purchased from Telus unsubsidized for ~$700 or whatever it cost at the time 11 months ago (previous owner had a different phone and bought and added this phone).

Telus can't seem to unlock. On their system they say it's not synced with itunes and status is pending. Which is bs, it is synced I updated to ios 6, and applecare support verified, and also told me they cannot help with the unlock.

Never dealt with Telus for unlocking. Have unlocked a few iPhones through Rogers and have surprisingly had very few issues.

But yes it sounds like Telus is talking BS. Have you called just the one time?

So I got it unlocked. I thought I'd post in case anyone searches in future and finds this posting.

It was a hassle and took about 1.5 hours on the phone.

Things to be aware of:

The carriers lock the phones not Apple. Telus may tell you otherwise, push on.
Telus may through up barriers, just keep pushing.
Make sure you have the latest IOS
Make sure you have a SIM in the phone you are unlocking, even an inactive one
Once Telus gets your IMEI they will submit it to Apple
At some point within 24-48hrs when you plug in your iphone to sync with pc or mac itunes will tell you your iphone is unlocke

Did you pay $50 or $35. They just announced yesterday that they are lowering the cost to unlock a phone to $35.
