iPad memory decision

I'm going to get a new iPad and am deciding how much memory to get. I'll use it mostly for the internet and taking some photos (20/month). It's really just to get me online easily so no movie downloading, music downloading.

I'm thinking the 16GB will be enough, but is there something I'm unaware of and should get the 32GB?

16 is really 14, 32 is really 28GB.
Apps, although you might not think you will use/get them, are amazing. Free or bought they take up room. I have a lot of maps, journals (penultimate is fantastic), skype magazinne and tv apps...
Movies are great for trips or watching with headphones. ( I catch more watching them this way)
I have a 16GB and am continually filling it and deleting stuff.
32GB is the sweet spot for the ipad IMHO. (none available on opening day last tear )
It is a new/different device which has no past which you can base usage on. Once you start using it, you might find you are doing things on it that never occurred to you.
Just my experience and 2 cents worth.
Robert

My 64 GB is nearly full after one year of use. Buy as big an iPad as you can afford. Better to have too much than not enough space as you find 'can't live without' apps in the years ahead.

As usual, get as much memory as you can possibly afford.

Yes, get as much as you can afford..but there's nothing wrong with the 16GB for what you say you will use it for. We have three iPads in our family, all 16GB, and there are no complaints. Unless you are loading lots of huge apps like navigation (with preloaded maps) then you should be OK. Use the extra money to splurge on the 3G model -- more valuable on the go.

I have a 32 GB model but probably could get-by happily with a 16 GB model. With a 16 GB unit, you'll need to keep your videos in check; I have the 3-hour The Godfather on board and it takes up 1.9 GB of space. Apps also chew up space, but nowhere near as much. The biggest and most sophisticated single app I have is GarageBand and it takes up 683 MB, but the vast majority take less than 200 MB.

I disagree. At 32Gb, you're paying $100 more for just 16GB extra memory. At 64GB you're paying $200 for 48GB. I personally would go for either 16 or 64.

Not perfect solutions by any means, but for around the home if you find yourself short on storage, there are a few wireless storage solutions that interact with the iPad. One is by G-Connect:

Here's a review by iLounge.

Seagate has their Satellite wireless storage.

There is also the AirStash.

I went for a 64GB iPad 2 and more recently a 64 GB iPhone 4S. I could have gotten away with 32GB for the iPad, but my 32GB iPhone 4 that I had filled up way too fast.

I hate fighting with having to constantly delete stuff or choose between two things.
