Arrow It Costs Just $1.36 a Year to Charge an iPad

Associated Press writer Jonathan Fahey reports the results of an Electric Power Research Institute study to determine how much energy an iPad consumes in a year. “The answer: not much,” writes Fahey, noting that “the annual cost to charge an iPad is just $1.36.” He adds: “…if people are using iPads instead of televisions to play video games, or ditching their desktop computers for iPads, the shift to tablets could mean lower overall power consumption.”

That's interesting. To put things in perspective, that's about what it costs me per day to charge my car.

do you have an electric car? or did you mean in good old gasoline? cause i'm paying way way more than that!!

to put that into perspective, that's about the monthly wage of someone that makes the iPad that you get to buy for 600$ +

Yes, I've been driving a Chevrolet Volt since they first arrived in Canada in Sept. 2011. Best car I have ever owned.

Despite the nerdy implications this is the single biggest argument I have for HMD/HUD's like google glasses. It has the potential to drastically reduce the amount of e-waste and power consumption compared to current devices.
