WORKED! CubaMark, thanks a bunch. It took about 7-8 tries, but it finally restored. I think once I waited until the software downloaded fully, it was fine. A couple of times, the iPod crapped out and reverted to that "disabled" screen - and I mistakenly unplugged before the software was downloaded. Just a short time ago, it crapped out again, but I allowed the software to download. I then re-traced your steps, and the iPod engaged with the restore because the software was there "somewhere".
The student (and mother) will be thrilled when I hand it back next week.
Thanks again. Amazing knowledge on this forum. Never fails to deliver a solution.
/Michael.
Hmm, 'rondini', I'm a "he", by the way.
Yes, a bit over the top with the iPod thing. I call it a "Touch". Sue me.
The police. There were serious threats made on school property, a sweater was also stolen, AND the you-know-what stolen and "damaged". This young lady is a repeat offender. No, I don't call the police at every instant.
Anyway, I think the young lady with the locked YKW is SOOL. When I showed her these tips, she lamented that the computer she has it synced to is in Alberta with her other brother from another mother. I believe it has to be restored on the "home" computer, yes?
LOL, you obviously don't live in Montreal. You couldn't get the cops here to come by your house in under three hours if you called 911 and told them a bunch of wild men where robbing your house and raping your family!
Good for you if your local/provincial police actually intervene when crime occurs!
If your childs $400 bike was stolen, wouldn't you contact the cops?
Nope. Chances of getting a stolen bike back are almost nil, and the cops have better things to do.

Before this thread went to hell, I was actually thanking 'CubaMark' for solving my restore problem. So I'll thank him again, and perhaps we'll put this to rest.
