Was in a couple of shops around town looking for a stylus to use with my iPad. Only a selection of 2, one which doesn't work with the iPad and one that works intermittently. Can anyone recommend a good stylus, mostly for writing? Thanks.
Read up on the Jot a bit. Some have complained about taking notes in a class setting with the clicking that is produced every time you put it to the screen. Can you comment on that?
I have the Jot Classic. Take any implement (pen with cap on, stick, anything pen weight) and 'write' on your iPad with it. That is the same sound the Jot makes. With some (re)training of your writing style, it doesn't have to make that much noise. I loaned mine to someone who was not happy with the typical rubber tipped stylus and they did not like the Jot- thought it had too much friction. Also, there are some screen protectors that don't work well with the Jot.
I find the Jot Classic is a bit heavy (23g, a Griffin or a standard Zebra 301 pen weigh 12g) and smooth, and it slides down in my fingers. If I was going to buy one for a lot of writing I would consider the extra expense of the Pro with the rubber grip, or going a bit lighter with the Mini. I've taken to wrapping a small rubber band around the barrel for a grip. And if you're clumsy or accident prone, you'll need some extra tips.

Hmm ... there is a little disk that fits over the nib. Maybe it's the sound of that hitting the screen? I couldn't say. The Jot replaced another stylus I used to use but I didn't notice it being any more or less noisy.
