iTunes is strange

It dawned on me the other day just how strange iTunes really is.
What I mean is I can load my music into iTunes and store it under Music for playback. I can load my movies into iTunes and store it under Movies for playback, but yet copies of tv shows that I own can't be stored under tv shows for playback.
I'd like to have all my episodes of Flipper, Hazel and Gilligan's Island stored in iTunes under tv shows!
Am I missing something in the iTunes preferences that would allow me to do just that?

And how come you can load your books into iTunes but yet you can't read them in iTunes?

Anyone else notice this? I'm perplexed.

In the "get info" for the file there should be an option somewhere to say it's a tv show.

Thank-you!

You know I've looked at that 100 times... and didn't see it!

Thanks again... and Flipper thanks you too!

It bugs me that I can't watch what's on my iTunes server on my iPhone or iPad directly, whether on wifi or over the internet.

I had that problem but I was able to correct it.

My Mac Pro is now connected directly via ethernet into my Airport Extreme and I can now access the iTunes library located on the Mac Pro on my iPad or iPhone over wi-fi from anywhere in the house.

I'd like to be able to access my iTunes library from the cottage over the internet but I don't know how to do that yet.

True. It's funny that I can browse my iTunes library on my iPhone with the Remote app; then push that content to my AppleTV 2; but I can't see that same content on my phone.

This is somewhat alleviated by iTunes match for my music files though. It'd be nice to have video as well.

Funny, I have always been able to browse my shared iTunes library on my iPhone and iPad. In the Music/Video player under Playlists, I just select More-->Shared and any shared libraries should be listed there.

As for playing my media over the internet, I have Plex media Server installed and pointed to my media, then in the app settings under MyPlex, I created and account and turned "sharing over internet (not actual name)" on.

I also have the Plex Media Centre App on my iPhone and iPad. I just have to log in to the same account and BLAM, all my media is there and it even works over 3G (albeit slowly). This setup is totally idiot-proof to get up and running and I have had absolutely NO issues with this setup.

I have the opposite problem - half the time my mac shows up as an Apple TV in Remote, and I can't access anything. Their quality control has really gone downhill lately.
