Light Hearted Kites Shot In Toronto's Beaches With iPhone 4s

I used this item on my web site today and thought people here might like to see the quality of video produced by an iPhone 4s, never mind the kite skills demonstrated.

Quote:
A six sail kite, video capture with an iPhone 4s in Toronto's beaches. The Kite is made by and flown by Steve Polansky, the sails are hand painted by his wife. Stunning sails and beautiful to see in action. The kites anchored and floating in the background are his as well, stunning kite display for the love of kite flying. Film by Candid Cameraman on his iPhone ... in the I can't believe it's iPhone category ... this is pretty hard to beat. Edited and uploaded on iPhone to You Tube. The iPhone is pretty incredible when it comes to both photo and video capabilities.

I actually don't think that video quality is very impressive. I can see quite a bit of shifting in the video. I have yet to see video from any phone that actually looks comparable to any serious HD video camera.

That kite flier is a friend of mine. That video has gone viral through posts on Colossal and Laughing Squid.

For a phone camera it looks pretty good. Not everyone will be carrying a serious HD camera with them 24/7, this is good enough to grab things on the go.

That's a bit like complaining that your can can't put holes in walls and drive over the rubble as well as your tank can, don't you think?

The iPhone 4S compares pretty favourably to most consumer point-and-shoot videos with the exception of flash and zoom, but it's obviously not meant to replace "a serious HD video camera" any more than a field rocket is meant to replace the space shuttle.
