Trying to understand iMessage synching between iPhone 4 and iPad 2

I have the iPad 2 Wifi only version. Since there is no phone number attached to it, I have iMessage directed at my Apple ID email address.

First question is, will it sync with the messages on my iPhone 4?

If someone sends me an iMessage and they have been using my phone number only, will it ever get to my iPad? Does iCloud figure into this at all?

So far, the messages on the two are completely separate.

Hi HHK,

I'm fairly certain the messages are seperate as the messages are directly sent unlike email which goes up to a main server.

I could be wrong about that thought. So far for me, they are seperate between my phone and ipad.

Cheers,
Keebler

They can come to both devices, but you need to set up your phone to receive iMessages through the email address associated with the iPad. So, if people send you iMessages to your phone number, they won't show up on your iPad, but if they send it to your email(through imessage) it will go to both devices.

Thanks. Too bad there's no way to sync up the messages.
